January Family Newsletter 2019

From the Director

We have certainly had a busy start to 2019!

Quality Improvement Plan

As part of our ongoing improvements throughout the centre, we have set up a Quality Improvement Plan table in the foyer. Each week we will be posing a question about your child’s room, and have the opportunity for families to answer Yes or No and provide feedback if you wish to do so.

This enables us to use feedback to improve on our practices throughout the centre.

Excursions

We are excited to be planning a number of excursions already for the year! ELC 1 is investigating dinosaurs, and will be heading to the museum to continue their learning. Kindy 2 has been looking into transport and trains, and will be venturing to the nearby train park for a picnic.

We are working closely with the Charles Sturt Library to organise some incursions and excursions to the library, and participate in the Paint the Westside REaD program. We will be participating in story times, activities, and themes throughout the year, and we will also be visited by Lizzie the Lizard- stay tuned!!

Casual Bookings

If you would like to book your child into the centre for a casual day, please email either Megan, Jacqui or Charlotte. We will be able to let you know if we have spaces available in your child’s room on the day you are requiring care.

Staff Changes

We have had a few staff changes over the past few months.

We are sad to share that Kayleigh will be leaving Woodville Park on the 1st of February. She is continuing her journey with Precious Cargo, but has decided to move forward in her career. We wish her all the very best. Kristy, Parisa and TJ will continue to be in the Nursery 1 Room.

We welcome Banupriya (Priya) to the Nursery 2 team. Priya will be supporting Jordie, Elaine and Skye in the room, and will continue on when Skye leaves us to go on Maternity Leave. Marjalika is still on Maternity Leave.

In our Kindy 2 Room, we welcome Jelena who will be supporting Trish and Drasti throughout the room.

Michaela has moved into ELC 2 to support Nidhi with our ELC program starting in February. Michaela is also hoping to complete her Bachelor of Early Childhood Education soon.

We welcome Jacqui to our Management team. Jacqui has moved from Melbourne to support us, and has taken over from Emily in her absence.

Emily has now commenced her maternity leave, and recently given birth to a beautiful baby girl. Congratulations Emily!

We also welcome Lin and Riannahn to our Pre Kindy Rooms, who will both be supporting Julie, Renee and the Pre Kindy team.

Administration News

To ensure your ongoing CCS payments please ensure your child is signed in/out at every attendance.

Statement of Entitlement

Regulations also now require us to provide a Statement of Entitlements (your account) to parents/guardians of children eligible for CCS or ACCS enrolled in our services once every fortnight which includes details of the sessions of care provided and the resulting fee reduction amounts.

As a result this will mean that from the next charging (24/1/19) we will be providing you with an account that covers a 4 week period – the current week, the previous week and the next 2 weeks.

Notice of intention to Leave

Long Day Care – When families no longer require a place in the child care classes, the centre must be notified in writing. Please note we require a minimum of 4 weeks written notice. The account will be settled using the funds from the bond payment. If there is any outstanding balance then the family must finalise that immediately.

If the family has a credit this amount will be refunded to them once their account has been reconciled.

IMPORTANT NOTICE – Once you have provided your 4 week notice period the Child Care Subsidy is only applicable up to your last day of attendance. If your last day of attendance is prior to the end of your 4 week notice period you will be responsible for the payment of the full fee of each day from the last day of attendance until the completion of the 4 week notice period.

ELC – Families are required to give a minimum of 4 weeks written notice prior to the end of each block if your child(ren) are not continuing in the next block. Upon receiving 4 weeks’ notice your bond will be used to supplement your child’s last 4 weeks of the 12 week block.

In the event that 4 weeks written notice is not provided, you will forfeit 1 week of your bond for each week under the required 4 weeks’ notice period, for example if you give 2 weeks’ notice you will lose 2 weeks of your bond.

Fortnightly Payments

Our Centre relies on the timely payment of fees to enable us to meet our obligations to pay operating costs, most of which have fixed and regular dates for payment. We ask that sufficient funds are held in your nominated account to meet your fortnightly payment.

Accounts are emailed to you on the Tuesday prior to the Thursday charge and we ask that you review your account and contact the Admin Centre by the Wednesday (4pm at the latest) should you have any queries as we are not able to reverse payments after that time Reminder of Change in payment provider.

As previously advised, our software provider is changing the company that processes our payments. Your statements will from 21/1/19 show Debitsuccess (this changes from Ezidebit).

A message from Megan

Dear Families,

Wishing you all a very happy New Year.

I would firstly like to thank everyone at Precious Cargo Woodville Park for making me feel welcome to the role as Director. It has been lovely to meet the families and children in the rooms, and I look forward to having a chat with you all soon.

Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have any questions or concerns, or would just like to have a chat- my door is always open.

During my short time here so far, I have felt so welcomed into such a strong family based centre, and am learning new skills every day. I love the Montessori approach to teaching and learning, and enjoy seeing the children learn and thrive in their environments.

I am also very lucky to be able to share this with my daughter in the Nursery Room, Emma, who has returned to work with me, and watch her grow and learn every day.

2018 was such a busy time for myself and my family, with the birth of Emma, celebrating my wedding with my husband and my 30th birthday in October, and starting my adventures at Precious Cargo in November, I am looking forward to settling into 2019 and being able to share my knowledge, gain new skills, and meet new people in my role as Director.

I can’t wait to be able to share everything with Emma as well, including my love of ice hockey, reading, and spending family holidays on the river.

Via Dance

Hello Parents/Caregivers of Precious Cargo Woodville Park!

As some of you may know ViaDance has been teaching dance classes at the centre for over 3 years now!

We are excited to announce that ViaDance will be continuing dance classes at the centre in 2019. The weekly classes are run on Thursdays at 9:15am! If your child does not attend the centre on those days but you are interested in lessons you will have the option to bring your child in for the lesson each week. * Please let us know if you will be bringing your child in.

Our dance classes are aimed at 2-5 year olds and are held once a week for half an hour in which we teach basic jazz, ballet and hip hop technique. We have now also introduced some cultural dance technique as well as themed dances (salsa, theatrical, bollywood etc.). The children will gain the knowledge that they would receive at a dance school as well as a high focus on confidence building and FUN!

At the end of Term 2 you will be invited to attend our mid-year parent viewing day which will allow you to view a full dance class! We will also hand out your child’s mid-year report on that day which will give you an insight on their progress made in class! There is a termly newsletter that will be emailed out which contains a song list for at-home rehearsals and important news. At the end of 2019 our dancers will perform their final concert for the year on stage at the centres End of Year Show.

The price of the class is $21 a fortnight via direct debit. After you have completed the enrolment form you will receive an e-mail with the direct debit form attached. The direct debit payments are not bound to a contract and can be stopped at any time.

If you would like to enrol your child in one of our classes please go to www.viadance.com.au and complete the online enrolment form as soon as possible to ensure your child’s spot.
We look forward to teaching your children and helping them play, learn, grow… ViaDance!

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or queries that you may have!

Kind Regards,
Miss Jordan

Happy Feet

My name is Annette Beckett and I am the Happy Feet Instructor at your centre. I have a background in both children’s education and fitness.

Happy Feet Fitness classes are interactive themed adventure classes packed full of original music, movement, costumes, games and laughter. Taking the concept of play based learning to another level, Happy Feet Fitness prides itself on delivering educational content, positive reinforcement and social development skills in a super fun and exciting class format.

Happy Feet Fitness classes are targeted at children between 18months and 5 years old. Every week we present a different and exciting themed class. Your child will get to use varied props, wear our specially designed costumes and have lots of fun. Not to mention the educational, health and fitness benefits your child gets from participating in a Happy Feet Fitness class. We provide weekly communication via email to all families about the class as well as special certificates, reports and photos.

Class times are 9.15 and 10.00am Mondays and 2.30pm Wednesdays.

You can pop upstairs and take a look on the music room window if you would like to see some photos of the children in action.

If you would like your child to have a trial class, please let an educator know, or contact me on: 0408 937 549 or annette@happyfeetadmin.com.au
