This centre has very close connections with the local nursing home, Lockleys Primary School, Red Cross, Via Dance, Happy Feet Dance and Yoga through our much loved Community Links program.

When I first learnt about the Montessori Philosophy and teaching methods I was sceptical, however after nearly 13 years with Precious Cargo my respect and admiration for Dr Maria Montessori…

…is stronger than ever.

The respect and humility that is part of the Montessori Philosophy has really resonated with my own personal and professional philosophy and has been the basis of my teaching. During my time with Precious Cargo, I have observed children flourish using the Montessori Teachings – when given the opportunity to engage in real meaningful work, using the child sized materials children’s concentration and confidence builds.

I have been working in the early years education for nearly 20 years and have had the pleasure of working with numerous families. The Montessori Method is so much more than working with the pink tower, it is about developing independence through hands on learning and teaching respect: not just for the environment but most importantly for yourself. Dr Maria Montessori’s teachings have played an influential part in building confident young people who have a love of learning. My love for the Montessori Method will always support my teaching practises and will guide me as I navigate through my own parenting.

My journey with Precious Cargo started in 2011 and I instantly fell in love with the philosophy and the Montessori Method. From a very young age, I have always wanted to work in Early Education…

…and after my first day working for Precious Cargo I knew straight away that I was exactly in the right place. During this time, I have been fortunate enough to complete my Certificate III and Diploma of Early Education and Care through Precious Cargo.

I have worked as an educator in Nursery,
Waddlers and then gained a position as a Team Leader in the Pre Kindy Room and now as an Assistant Director. I am passionate about providing a strong and stimulating curriculum that incorporates the Montessori Method and encourages independence. Building relationships with children and their families is one of the most important aspects of our roles; we truly do aspire to be one large, happy family here at Lockleys.

My name is Shoana Heinze and I have been working in the childcare industry for five years. My passion to work with children ignited after working as a volunteer at my children’s primary school.

I began studying my diploma in 2014 and was fortunate to have been offered a position within Precious Cargo in 2016. A Montessori environment is well prepared and gives children the freedom to become confident and independent learners at their own pace and I value this in an education environment.

My name is Cara Annetts and I have been working in the childcare education industry for 11 years in a variety of roles including assistant educator, team leader and curriculum leader.

Over this time I have developed my passion and skillset to support both educators and children in achieving their individual goals and to gain confidence to try new experiences. Our newly renovated and heritage Myrtle Bank centre has 4 separate outdoor play areas that are specifically designed to satisfy children’s needs as they develop. The centre also has a kitchen cooking platform and music room to facilitate sensorial and practical skill development. Precious Cargo’s emphasis on sustainability and agriculture is also evident at Myrtle Bank, with chickens, rabbits, compost bins, vegetable gardens, worm farms and a Grow Free Cart available.

This centre has established strong relationships as part of the Community Links Program. This encourages children to interact with and demonstrate compassion toward people of all ages and backgrounds. The newly renovated Precious Cargo at St Peters is equipped with three outdoor play areas, a playground built in 2019, two verandahs, and numerous established trees. The centre also boasts a kitchen cooking platform and a music room. We are also passionate about celebrating diverse cultures through various celebrations and learning experiences.

Precious Cargo’s environmental and agricultural focus is evident at St Peters, with compost bins, fruit trees, a pet rabbit, and vegetable gardens and chickens coming to the centre soon! Additionally, our much praised Community Links program has seen this centre form strong connections with the local library, Woolworths, Via Dance, Little Tennis Stars and Happy Feet Dance.

This two-storey purpose-built centre has a large verandah and enclosed balcony, and natural yards with beautiful established gardens. It is also equipped with a dining room with kitchen cooking platform, and a music room with a view! The agricultural focus is evident, with vegetable gardens, herb gardens, and a Grow Free Cart. We also have pet chickens on the way!

Welland Precious Cargo has established strong Community Links in the local area, as a means of teaching children about compassion and empathy. These relationships include; Happy Feet Dance, St Vincent de Pauls, Allenby Gardens Primary School, and the local library.

My journey into early development began when I discovered the importance of high quality early childhood education programs and the improved outcomes for children they produce.

Within my career I have worked across all age groups within a variety of roles, including an additional needs support position and educational leader. I also hold a Bachelor in Nutrition and Food Sciences, which I utilise within my role to provide nutritional education to the children within my care.

Since joining Precious Cargo in Oct 2018, it has been amazing to watch children blossom in a planned environment that empowers children to be confident, independent learners. To be a part of a philosophy that supports children to build respectful relationships based on courtesy, fairness and patience whilst developing self-worth is very rewarding.

Woodville Park

This two-storey, purpose-built centre is equipped with a verandah, alfresco eating facilities, and a unique play area with various adventure-based equipment. There is also an eclectic sawtooth structure covering part of the outdoor area. Precious Cargo’s emphasis on sustainability and agricultural is exercised in a practical sense, with pet rabbits and a turtle, vegetable gardens, and a worm farm.

Woodville Park centre has formed very strong connections with local businesses and organisations as part of Precious Cargo’s Community Links program. These include; Paint the Westside REaD, Salvation Army, Via Dance, Little Tennis Stars, and the local library.

I commenced my childcare experience in Victoria where I began as an Educator working my way through to a Director position.

I have worked in the industry for over 20 years including some time as a Family Day Carer.
I then relocated in December 2018 to Precious Cargo Woodville as an Assistant Director. I strive to provide a welcoming learning environment for children so it feels like home. I love the simplicity of the Montessori curriculum where it logically teaches children about the skills needed for life and enables them to gain self-confidence.

Raising my 2 daughters highlighted for me the strong focus that the Montessori method has on building self confidence, inner discipline, a sense of self worth and positive social behaviour. This is everything I wanted for my own children and I was so happy to be apart of the Precious Cargo vision to provide this learning to each and every child.

…with my personal philosophy for children’s education and care. I have now been part of the company for 10 years.

My interest in child development was ignited by my mother, who was a teacher at a Montessori Primary School. As a child, I also attended a Montessori Preschool and I flourished in the hands-on learning environment. Later in life, as a young adult, I was given the opportunity to learn and to work as a Teacher’s Aid in a Montessori School, which further enlivened my curiosity for the Montessori pedagogy; a child-focussed educational approach based on scientific observation of child development. Since then, I’ve gone on to study my Assistant Certificate in Montessori and I still remain passionate about observing children grow and develop through this amazing method.

They also learn about empathy and consideration through their strong Community Links with Happy Feet Dance, Mindfulness, RSPCA, CFS, and the indigenous community.

Our two-storey Collinswood centre is purpose built, with a dining room, music room, kitchen cooking platform, outdoor verandah, and balcony with shade. There are also two outdoor play areas, one of which has a spider web climbing frame and a rock mound with a slide! The culture within this centre is extremely diverse, and is equipped with educators that speak multiple languages.

Our newly renovated and heritage Myrtle Bank centre has 4 separate outdoor play areas that are specifically designed to satisfy children’s needs as they develop. The centre also has a kitchen cooking platform and music room to facilitate sensorial and practical skill development. Precious Cargo’s emphasis on sustainability and agriculture is also evident at Myrtle Bank, with chickens, rabbits, compost bins, vegetable gardens, worm farms and a Grow Free Cart available.
This centre has established strong relationships as part of the Community Links Program. This encourages children to interact with and demonstrate compassion toward people of all ages and backgrounds. Myrtle Bank’s Community Links include: Carinya Nursing Home, Glen Osmond Primary School, Glen Osmond Vet Clinic, Via Dance, Happy Feet Dance and Mindful Kiddo.

The newly renovated Precious Cargo at St Peters is equipped with three outdoor play areas, a playground built in 2019, two verandahs, and numerous established trees. The centre also boasts a kitchen cooking platform and a music room. We are also passionate about celebrating diverse cultures through various celebrations and learning experiences.
Precious Cargo’s environmental and agricultural focus is evident at St Peters, with compost bins, fruit trees, a pet rabbit, and vegetable gardens and chickens coming to the centre soon! Additionally, our much praised Community Links program has seen this centre form strong connections with the local library, Woolworths, Via Dance, Little Tennis Stars and Happy Feet Dance.
