The Nursery childcare routine offers consistency, freedom of movement, a variety of experiences, art & craft, outside play and music & movement.
We would like to be your child’s extended family and aim to create a safe, fun and educational environment at all times.
We ask that parents complete a “who am I” story that provides us with intimate details to assist us with duplicating your baby’s routine.
Children are extremely absorbent, especially at this age! Their growth in the first 12 months of life is so rapid that we need to continually offer them new challenges that will stimulate their growth and development.
At Precious Cargo we provide nappies, wipes, formula, sudocrem and sunscreen all we need you to bring is a hat and changes of clothes.
The move from Nursery to Waddlers in childcare provides continuity by offering a similar structure.
Waddlers is a gentle introduction to an educational environment where the children begin to understand the classroom’s expectations and become more independent.
In the Waddler childcare class, there is a focus on Montessori ‘practical life’ including personal hygiene, common courtesies and manners.
The children are encouraged to wash their own hands, pour their own water, wipe their own face and choose their own activities.
We also continue regular lessons in art, craft, yoga, music and movement.
In this room, the children are much more independent and have free access to many activities and practical life experiences.
The children choose their own activities and pack them away when they have finished. They butter their own bread, pour their own water, set the table, scrape their plates and much more.
Group discussions become more complex to assist with the development of children’s logic and understanding of their world. Children are also introduced to academics in an informal manner in preparation for their next step into Kindy.
We regularly include language lessons, cultural experiences, personal hygiene routines and common courtesies and manners into the daily routines. We continue to offer children art and craft, outside play, story time and children are encouraged to have a rest or sleep if required.
These children are very busy and do not stop. It is a pleasure to see them achieve milestones and begin to delve into their academic capabilities.
Kindergarten is the most academically focused as the child’s curiosity and concentration level is ready for more challenging lessons.
A teacher works directly with groups of children, introducing more formal academic lessons, dependant on developmental stages.
The children continue to receive specialised classes in computer education, woodworking, kitchen hygiene, food preparation, yoga, art & craft and music & movement.
Once your child turns 4, whilst remaining in the familiar kindy room, we start preparing them for school. During this time they are academically assessed by staff and provided with the appropriate curriculum, using specialist Montessori apparatus.
These children regularly remind us that as adults we should never assume they are too young to be introduced to certain things. To assume robs them of the perfect opportunity to learn and grow.
